Scholarship Opportunities
The PTO is having an essay contest for any student who will be attending a Catholic High School. The title of the essay is: "What a Catholic Education Means to Me." The essay is to be turned in to Miss Breitner by Wednesday, April 22. There will be three prizes awarded - $250 for first place; $150 for 2nd place; and $100 for third place. Please do not put any names on the essays. They will be number coded at school.
The St. Lawrence Athletic Association is again offering a scholarship to any 8th graders who have ever participated in the sports program and will be attending a Catholic High School. The title of the essay is "What I Have Learned Through Playing Sports at St. Lawrence." The deadline for this scholarship is Wednesday, April 8. The Athletic Association will give a $250 scholarship to one boy and one girl. Please do not put any names on the essays. They will be number coded at school.
The Christopher Nguyen Scholarship will also be awarded at graduation. One boy going to Elder and one girl attending Seton will receive a $1500 scholarship. All 8th graders are encouraged to participate in this scholarship walk on SAturday, May 2, and to solicit donations. All 8th graders are also asked to bring baked goods to the party after the walk.
The David Bradley Wick Foundation is also offering a scholarship to a Catholic high school. Please see the application sent home on March 10th.
If you receive notice of any scholarships or grants received by your son/daughter, please send a copy of the letter to school. This way we can acknowledge all of the awards won by the students at the Graduation Awards Ceremony.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 6, 2009 - MAY CROWNING & GRADUATION PICTURES
| 5:30 pm | Any 8th grader wanting to purchase individual pictures must be in church at this time. More information will be sent home later. |
| 6:00 pm | All 8th graders assemble in church. |
| 6:15 pm | 8th grade Graduation picture taken in church. There is no cost for this picture. It is a gift to the 8th graders from the PTO. |
| 7:00 pm | May Crowning Ceremony |

If the dress is not modest and appropriate for Church, your daughter will not be allowed to participate in any of the events.
