Social Studies and Religion

 

Each class day opens with a Geo-Challenge question of the day.  This question helps the students learn about their world and were places are located in our world.

 

5th Grade Social Studies

The fifth grade students will begin the school year with the study of geography.

The textbook we will be using is Prentice Hall World Explorer Geography Tools and Concepts.  We will begin our study of the world by learning the five themes of geography, maps, and landforms. During the months of November, December, and January the students will learn about human geography, cultures of the world and earth's natural resources. 

In February  the students will begin their study of the ancient world.  The textbook we will be using is Prentice Hall World Explorer  The Ancient World. 

The topics we will be covering in class are as follows:

Chapter 1 The Beginnings of Human Society

Chapter 3 Ancient Egypt and Nubia

Chapter 4 Ancient India

 5th Grade Religion                 

The students will be using the Blessed Are We religion textbook this school year.  We will be studying the seven sacraments this year.

6th Grade Social Studies

The students will be using the textbook Prentice Hall World Explorer Medieval Times to Today. 

The topics we will be studying in class are as follows:

6th Grade Religion                     

The students will be using the Blessed Are We textbook this year.  We will study the Old Testament in depth this year.
