The News of the Week

Horray!  In Phonics, we learned the letter Hh.  We learned the sound it makes, how to write it, and how to figure out if a word starts with Hh.

In Math, we continued our unit on numbers 0-5.  We practiced creating groups of up to 5 items.  We also learned to write 1 and 2.

In Religion, we learned the story of Noah’s ark.  We learned that God loved the animals so much that He asked Noah to build the ark to save them from the flood.

In Science, we talked about the life cycle of apples and pumpkins.

In Social Studies, we learned about car and bike safety.  We learned that we should always wear our seat belt in the car.  And when we ride our bikes, we should always wear a helmet.

In English, we began sequencing.  We talked about how there are certain things you must do before you can do something else.  For example, you have to pour the drink before you can drink it.

On Tuesday, the children did a great job with Mrs. Douglas, while I was at a workshop.

On Wednesday, it was Picture Day!  Everyone looked great and had wonderful smiles!

Things to Look Forward To

In Phonics, we will learn the letter Bb.  We will learn to identify it, write it, and make its sound.

In Math, we will continue our unit on numbers 0-5.  We learn how to write 3 and 4.

In Science, we will continue to talk about pumpkins.

In Social Studies, we will continue our unit on Safety.  We will talk about strangers and how to stay safe on Halloween.

In English, we will continue sequencing events.

On Tuesday, the Council on Child Abuse will come to our room to talk to the children about good and bad touches.

On Friday, First Student will come to school to talk about bus safety.

Also, Friday is HALLOWEEN!  Today I am sending home the list of who is responsible for each item for the party.  Please be sure to send those items in on Friday.  Also, don’t forget the children MAY NOT wear costumes to school.

Peanut Butter for Lunch

There is a peanut butter option for lunch each day.  If your child does not like the main food being served, your child may get peanut butter.  However, this needs to be ordered in the morning, not as they walk through the lunch line.  So if you see something on the menu that your child would not like, please write me a note to order peanut butter.  This way we are not wasting food, and your child will eat what they have on their tray.
